I am Sridhar and I live in Edison, New Jersey
I started with RHWB back in January of 2020. My wife, daughter (8th grader), and dog Hazel are also in this program. I have completed 5 half marathons and signed up for Chicago Full Marathon 2022. I have run over 2,000 miles over the last 2 years. Without a PR target, I find it difficult to get out of my bed and wear my running shoes.
I love traveling and destination runs. Recently, I went to Denmark and ran almost 60 miles in 4 cities. Running gave me an opportunity to find hidden gems where I could stop for a quick bite at a café, take a picture at a busy square, and dart through cobblestone streets and quaint alleys. Last year, I had another destination run experience at a hill-station town of Yercaud, India. I was not counting miles nor thinking about the effort, as I was awestruck by these beautiful places. As I was having fun, I didn’t realize I was doing hill runs and high-altitude aerobic training. My travel experiences have become more immersive, as a result.
I feel this program has transformed me inside out; I lost 44 lbs just within the first 9 months. This is the first time in my life I was able to lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way without having to starve. I love playing tennis. As a result of fitness gained through running, I am quicker on the court. Mentally, I am ready to play longer points knowing that it is unlikely my opponent will out-endure me.
I am an avid audiobook & podcast listener. While running, I am always listening to audiobooks and podcast interviews. Over the past 2 years, I have listened to more than 200 hours of audio content, mostly non-fiction.
Even though I started my journey with RHWB as a reluctant runner, I am now addicted to running. This sport has given me so much in the form of unforgettable experiences, physical and mental health, thoughtful perspectives, and lifelong friends. Running is continuing to transform me one day at a time. My goal is to keep running without injuries for the rest of my life.
